Overview
Quantifying mooring system performance
Film-Ocean’s patented Chain Measuring System enables accurate measurement of mooring chain wear, elongation and condition. Used on FPSOs worldwide, the system provides real-time data that helps operators assess asset integrity and make informed decisions during inspection campaigns.
Compatible with both studlink and studless chain designs, the system can be deployed from Film-Ocean’s ROV fleet or integrated with third-party systems where required.
Detailed condition monitoring
The system accurately records:
- Link length
- Interlink dimensions
- Bar diameter measurements
- Corrosion and wear trends
- Year-on-year condition changes through marker-based monitoring programmes
Flexible deployment
Designed around your operation
The Chain Measuring System can be deployed from most of Film-Ocean’s ROV fleet and can also be integrated with third-party ROV systems when required.
This flexibility allows the system to be incorporated into wider inspection, IRM and asset integrity programmes without requiring dedicated mobilisation.
Key Benefits
Real-time results
Measurements are recorded and displayed offshore, supporting immediate decision-making during operations.
Class-approved methodology
Accredited by ABS, Bureau Veritas, DNV and Lloyd’s Register.
Payload capacity
No requirement for extensive onshore data processing before results are available.
Minimal cleaning required
Precision contact points allow accurate measurements without extensive marine growth removal.
