UWILD (Underwater inspection in lieu of dry-docking)
Same scope. None of the downtime.
Underwater inspection in lieu of docking (UWILD) is the approved alternative for subsea surveys without taking your vessel out of service.
The inspection uses ROV-mounted camera, sonar and survey equipment to complete the external underwater survey covering
Hull plating conditions
Sea chests
Propellers and bow thrusters
Rudder and rudder gear
Sacrificial anodes
Other areas flagged in previous surveys
Who this is for
UWILD is relevant to any vessel facing an upcoming class survey, including
Vessel operators managing survey deadlines during campaign periods
Offshore asset managers needing a survey without production interruption
Procurement teams looking to reduce time and cost of dry-dock survey
More than 100 UWILD inspections globally
Film-Ocean has completed more than 100 inspections on vessels across oil and gas, renewables and commercial marine operations.
Our operators run every inspection and each one has a dedicated project manager.
How we work
Pre survey planning
We review your vessel’s class history, survey requirements and previous inspection records, finalising scope with you before mobilisation.
Mobilisation
We deploy to wherever your vessel is in the world.
Underwater survey
Our ROV completes the inspection to the relevant class society scope, capturing video, measurements and survey data.
Defect documentation
We document and report areas of concern while the ROV remains on site to allow immediate follow up.
Survey report
We provide the written report and documentation your class society needs for sign-off.
All these organisations recognise in-water survey as a standard alternative to dry-docking.
Your next class survey doesn’t have to mean dry-docking
Tell us when it’s due and where you operate; we’ll confirm whether UWILD’s the right approach and what you can expect.
